Ridge Meadows Home Show gets off to a flavorful start with its tempting sampling area—always a favorite with show goers. This year the area will feature President’s Choice products from Real Canadian Superstore along with a great line-up of vendors offering “tastes” and ensuring visitors keep their strength up as they navigate three buildings filled with ideas, innovations and products.
BODY, MIND AND SPIRIT PSYCHIC FAIR
A quick detour will take you upstairs in the curling rink to the Body, Mind and Spirit Psychic Fair. Get tuned in to your inner life at this illuminating event that spans the gamut of esoteric pursuits like mediumship and meditation. The fourth-annual For the Love of Dogs event is a three-day exploration of everything dog. Here’s where you come to shop for your furry best friend, learn about grooming, dog classes and training, as well as explore things you and your dog can do together. Informed dog experts will be on site all three days and Saturday the Meet the Breeds Dog Shows takes place. Saturday at 11:15 am Dale McCarthy, an animal communicator, takes to the stage in Family Fest to read your dogs mind—through you.
DOG SHOW AND MEET AND GREET:
Saturday May 5 only, noon and 3:00 join us at Family Fest for our Meet the Breeds Dog Show, showcasing plenty of dog world royalty and some of Canada’s top dogs. The show is followed by a meet and greet where visitors can meet the dogs and talk with owners and breeders about choosing the breed that suits their lifestyle and commitment level.

Warm Hearth BBQ Party has Chef Dez primed to teach you all the insider secrets of the “low and slow” barbecue method, different entirely from the slap it down, turn up the heat, “hey, let’s eat” method of grilling, the technique most of us have mastered. Working with the amazing quality of Meridian Meats, Chef Dez will share all the pros’ secrets Friday and Saturday. Watch step by step instructions then enjoy generous “tastes”. Our great line-up of vendors can be found outside on the fairgrounds and will feature gourmet coffees, fresh lemonade and tasty offerings like grilled cheese, tacos, fish and chips, stuffed burgers, Thai noodles, delicious donairs, wood-fired pizza, chicken wings, homestyle classics, mac and cheese, poutine, fresh-squeezed juices and of course, those devilish little mini donuts. FAMILY FEST
Celebrating 20-plus years and still entirely free, Family Fest 2018 has fun everywhere you look. A magical place for kids, Family Fest also includes features for the not so young, but young at heart. The entire event is free and runs all three days of home show.
NORDEN THE MAGICIAN:
Loveable, laughable Norden the Magician, Family Fest master of ceremonies, will work his magic with three days of stage shows and walk around magic. Norden has won countless national and international awards and is a ten-time winner of the prestigious Magician of the Year award from Pacific Coast Magicians’ Association.
ROUND UP GRANDMA AND GRANDPA for NEIL DIAMOND
Especially for seniors, Neil Diamond tribute artist Bobby Bruce will appear at Family Fest. Saturday May 5 at 1:30 pm on the main stage. Don’t be surprised if Grandpa’s tapping his toes and Grandma knows all the words to the songs. First 250 seniors receive coffee or tea and cookies courtesy McDonald’s. Psssst…the cookies are as good as homemade.

ENVISION FACE PAINTING
No visit to Family Fest is complete without a trip to face-painting headquarters located at Maple Ridge Fairgrounds, right in the thick of things at Family Fest. This year’s face-painting booth will feature a group of talented and imaginative young artists brought to the event by Ridge Meadows Home Show’s presenting sponsor Envision Financial. By donation, face-painting proceeds will go to keep Family Fest a free event.
SNOW QUEEN & FRIENDS
Beautiful Snow Queen, her sister, Princess Anna, and their friends. will bring magic to life on the outdoor Family Fest show stage. Featuring beloved songs, dancing and even magic, you won’t want to miss this awesome show for kids. THE NYLON ZOO
The Nylon Zoo journey begins in a huge inflatable sculpture that doubles as a storytelling theatre. The adventure ends where your imagination takes you. This is a choreographed participatory event where the audience becomes the dancers and performers. Ongoing shows scheduled daily Friday, Saturday and Sunday, May 4-6 at Family Fest at the Maple Ride Fairgrounds.
WESTCOAST FLYING TRAPEZE
Do you harbor a secret desire to join the circus? Here’s a great place to start. Don’t miss three days of amazing demonstrations from the high-flying performers at West Coast Flying Trapeze, based in Pitt Meadows. An innovative fitness program, Westcoast caters to ages six and up and even books high flying “circus parties” where guests can get in on the action with qualified trainers by their side. Now that will be a party everyone remembers,
DOOLITTLE’S PETTING ZOO:
Watch your child’s face light up with the opportunity to get up close and personal with everyone’s favorite barnyard animals. Ah, the lights the sounds, the smells—its carnival time. Located right next door to the outdoor events, SHOOTING STAR AMUSEMENTS brings the fun to you with a great selection of rides and games of chance for all ages.
DILLY THE CLOWN AND BUBBLEGUM
A favorite with the young ones, don’t miss the antics of Dilly the Clown and Bubblegum. Puppets, balloon animals and all manner of interactive fun for kids await on the Family Fest stage Friday and Sunday, May 4 and 6. Don’t miss this fun performance from ClickandClown.
ANIMAL COMMUNICTOR DALE MCCARTHY
Now here’s something off the beaten path. Saturday May 5 at 11:15 am Animal Communicator Dale McCarthy uses her telepathic talents to tell you what your dog is thinking—just by talking with you. Sound impossible? Dale has clients the world over and has been a frequent guest on television and radio…but why not put her to the test yourself? Sorry, you’ll have to leave Fido at home, though. The only dogs allowed on site are those performing in our dog show. And service dogs, of course.

Best kept secret in Maple Ridge? Maybe the brilliance of our local musicians. See for yourself. Simon Jarett takes to the Family Fest stage Saturday, May 5 at 2:30 pm Upon hearing this masterful player, many find themselves gaping, open-mouthed, wondering aloud “Who IS that?” Drop by if for no other reason than to hear Simon, often described as one of Canada’s top guitarists. Born in Britain, Simon attended the prestigious Guitar Institute in Los Angeles and took up residence in BC almost 30 years ago. As a professional musician he is active in the Vancouver music scene, performing and recording in a variety of musical genres from country to rock to jazz. He’s played alongside the best of the best and in addition to performing and recording, Jarett also designs and builds his own highly-regarded brand of tube guitar amplifiers and effects under the brand name Kingsley Amplifiers. A local resident, he currently fronts The Simon Jarett Band and Rocket Science.
SOUL PROJECT-Garibaldi High School.
This newly-formed group out of Garibaldi High School plays soul-inspired and other forms of pop music. Brand new, they hunger to be heard. Lets not disappoint.

GREYHAVEN EXOTIC BIRD SANCTUARY
Almost two years after their rescue from the island sanctuary forced to close after the death of its owner, many parrots and exotic birds are still looking for homes. If you can open your heart and your home to a rescue bird, there are many species still available. Several birds will be joining us at Family Fest at Ridge Meadows Home Show. Stop by and say hello…and then wait to see what happens.

Check out the food bank’s display at this year’s Family Fest, pick up a complimentary package of seeds and get the details on the ‘grow a row’ campaign. ALOUETTE RIVER MANAGEMENT SOCIETY
Living amid the grandeur of soaring mountain peaks, lush rainforest and abundant rivers and streams, Maple Ridge residents have plenty of reasons to champion the environment. A great way to do just that is to join the committed group of members, supporters and volunteers at Alouette River Management Society. You’ll find them at Family Fest at this year’s Ridge Meadows Home Show.
