The City of Maple Ridge: Fire Services Strategic Plan
The City of Maple Ridge is developing a new Fire Services Strategic Plan to guide the delivery of fire services for the next 15 years. As the community has undergone significant changes over the past 20 years, with more growth and development, it is crucial to update the fire services delivery model accordingly. To ensure that the new plan aligns with community needs and priorities, the City is seeking input from residents through an online survey and community engagement activities.
Maple Ridge residents are encouraged to participate in the online survey by May 22, 2023, to share their feedback on the current fire services delivery model and their expectations for the future. As a thank you for their participation, residents who complete the survey will have a chance to win a home emergency preparedness kit. Additionally, those attending this weekend's Ridge Meadows Home Show can visit the Maple Ridge Fire and Rescue display to learn more and provide input.
The new Fire Services Strategic Plan will consider several service drivers, such as population growth, increasing development density, and shifting demographics, to ensure that the fire services delivery model meets the evolving needs of the community. Other factors, such as the growing risk of wildfires, floods, and major storms due to climate change, will also be taken into account.
The City has engaged FireWise Consulting, a reputable fire service consulting firm, to conduct research and analyze data to inform recommendations for the updated Fire Services Strategic Plan. The plan's development will also consider industry standards, best practices, and Council strategic priorities, along with community and staff input.
