Pitt Meadows Awarded Canadian Financial Award for the Eighth Year

The City of Pitt Meadows has received the Canadian Award for Financial Reporting for its 2021 Annual Report, marking the eighth consecutive year that the city has received the award. The award recognizes quality in governmental accounting and financial reporting and is presented by the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA), which serves more than 20,000 government finance professionals in Canada and the United States.

Mayor Nicole MacDonald expressed her pride in the City's annual report, which provides transparency to citizens regarding how their tax dollars are being spent and the City's achievements and progress towards Council's strategic goals. Chief Administrative Officer Mark Roberts also commended the Finance and Communications departments for their outstanding work.

The City's Annual Financial Report for the year ending December 31, 2021, was judged by an impartial Canadian Review committee to meet the high standards of the program, including demonstrating a constructive "spirit full of disclosure" designed to clearly communicate the municipality's financial picture and encourage potential users and user groups to read the report. This achievement reflects the hard work and commitment of the City's staff to upholding the values of accessibility, transparency, and excellence in service with this Annual Report.
