Maple Ridge's Economic Development Summit on October 11th

Maple Ridge, BC is gearing up for its inaugural Economic Development Summit, set to take place on Wednesday, October 11, at the ACT Arts Centre, conveniently located downtown adjacent to City Hall. This event will provide a platform for input and insights from various sectors, including business, government, economics, and the local community.

Mayor Dan Ruimy, along with the City Council, will actively engage with essential economic stakeholders and community members. Their collective goal is to foster meaningful connections, pinpoint economic prospects for the city, and deliberate on practical strategies to foster business growth and sustain investment as Maple Ridge continues to expand.

The summit will kick off with a keynote address by the Honourable Brenda Bailey, BC Minister of Jobs, Economic Development, and Innovation. Mayor Ruimy expressed enthusiasm about Maple Ridge's advantageous central location in the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley, highlighting its potential as a competitive hub for business and fresh investments.

As the region's population is expected to burgeon over the next decade, Maple Ridge's role as a vital transportation artery and a prime business destination becomes increasingly pivotal. The summit represents a proactive step toward ensuring that the community is well-prepared to accommodate this growth while nurturing a robust economy, diversifying its tax base, and preserving the cherished quality of life for its residents.

The morning agenda features two insightful panel discussions, followed by a business showcase and an awards presentation celebrating innovation. A detailed event program will be released soon.

This Economic Development Summit marks the third in a series of Leadership Summits convened this year by the Mayor and Council. Preceding events included a Climate Action Summit in April and a Housing Affordability Summit in May.
