A number of new commercial buildings have popped up around Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows in the past year, and a couple of them are now being recognized as standout projects by the Fraser Valley Commercial Building Awards.

According to Business Examiner News Group publisher John MacDonald, the group received more than 200 nominations this year.

"We’re beyond excited to see the growth in submitted projects for this year’s event, our second year being in the Fraser Valley," said MacDonald.

The list of nominees has now been narrowed down to 41 finalists, which includes both Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows properties.

The first local entry is the Maple Ridge Chevrolet Buick GMC building, located at 12150 Golden Ears Way in Pitt Meadows. This new dealership was built by Ventana Construction and was opened to the public back in April.

The second of the local finalists is Sequoia Living, which is a townhouse development from Harwest Homes, located at 23108 Lougheed Hwy., Maple Ridge.

"Our nominated project, Sequoia Living in Maple Ridge, holds a special place in our hearts as it was our very first large-scale development," said Harwest Homes. 

"With over 20 years of experience in construction, embarking on this new venture was an exciting leap for our team. Sequoia Living paved the way for us to expand into development. Being recognized as a finalist is an incredible honour, and we are deeply grateful to be standing alongside such remarkable finalists. This achievement is a testament to the hard work, passion, and dedication of the entire Harwest Homes team."

Awards are given out across a variety of categories, including community institutional, tourism and hospitality, affordable housing, office, renovations, retail, and much more.

The winners of this year's Fraser Valley Commercial Building Awards will be announced at the awards ceremony in Surrey on Thursday, Oct. 24.
