The 2024 BC Summer Games are set to take place in Maple Ridge, B.C. from July 17 to 21, bringing over 3,000 athletes, coaches, and sports officials to the city. This significant event, which features 30 sports competitions across 19 venues, aims to highlight local talent and community spirit.

Mayor Ruimy expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming Games, emphasizing Maple Ridge's readiness to host the event and showcase the city's natural beauty and hospitality. The Games will begin with the arrival of athletes on July 17, followed by the opening ceremonies on July 18. Competitions will run from July 19 to noon on July 21, concluding with a Volunteer Appreciation Event.

The Games will include various sports such as swimming, sailing, basketball, soccer, triathlon, wrestling, equestrian competition, and more. All events, including the opening ceremonies, are free to attend.

Mayor Ruimy also highlighted the economic and community benefits of the Games, which are expected to boost local businesses and inspire youth participation in sports.

Residents should anticipate temporary impacts such as increased traffic, road closures, and limited parking near event venues. Some city facilities will also be closed to the public during the Games, but alternate fitness programming is planned.
