Fire Chief Mike Larsson Moves on to New Opportunity
The Pitt Meadows Fire & Rescue Service will begin the search for a new chief with the departure of Mike Larsson.
“On behalf of the City of Pitt Meadows, I want to thank Chief Mike Larsson for his leadership of the Pitt Meadows Fire & Rescue Service,” says Mayor Nicole MacDonald. “Chief Larsson has been at the helm of many enhancements to our Fire Service including the implementation of E-comm 911 radio system, transition to 24/7 coverage and construction of the new Fire Hall and Emergency Operations Centre.”
Mike Larsson joined Pitt Meadows as a paid-on-call volunteer in 2003, joined full-time in 2010 and became chief in 2019.
Chief Larsson has accepted a new position as fire chief with the City of Penticton starting September 2023.
“Chief Larsson has been instrumental in the enhancement of the Pitt Meadows Fire & Rescue Service,” says Chief Administrative Office Mark Roberts. “His dedication and hard work has been integral to public safety in the community. The chief will be missed as a senior leader at the City but we are happy for him and his family as he explores this new chapter.”
The City of Pitt Meadows will begin the search for a new chief and Deputy Chief of Operations Stephan Drolet, who rejoins the Fire Service on Monday, July 31, will lead the department until a new appointment is made.
