Family Fun Abounds at Maple Ridge’s Our Neck of the Woods Festival – September 14

Maple Ridge, B.C., September 6, 2024 – Families can look forward to an exciting day at the Our Neck of the Woods festival in downtown Maple Ridge on September 14. Commemorating Maple Ridge’s 150th anniversary, the festival will feature entertainment, food, and adventure in a huge TransLink Car-Free Street Party that spans Memorial Peace Park, 224 Street, 119 Avenue, and McIntosh Avenue, from noon to 10 p.m.

Family-oriented activities will run from noon to 6 p.m., alongside the Haney Farmers Market at Memorial Peace Park from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

“This free, family-friendly event is packed with fun and exciting activities for kids and people of all ages,” said Maple Ridge Mayor Dan Ruimy. “Bring your family, friends, and neighbors to Our Neck of the Woods and be part of the largest birthday party in our city’s history!”

Soar Over Maple Ridge Zipline: Noon to 6 p.m.

Thrill-seekers can experience the Soar Over Maple Ridge Zipline, presented by Brimming Development, from noon to 6 p.m. The dual zipline will start at over three stories high and offer a 150-foot-long ride along 224 Street. Donations via bank, credit card, cash, or coins will be accepted to support the Maple Ridge Community Foundation.

“This is the first-ever zipline in downtown Maple Ridge,” Mayor Ruimy added. “It’s a great way to celebrate our 150th while supporting the Maple Ridge Community Foundation and showcasing the best of our community.”

Free Family Fun: Noon to 6 p.m.

  • Katzie Canoe Family Visual and Performing Arts, supported by LiUNA Local 1611
  • Campfire Story Sessions, presented by Meadowridge School
  • Bouncy Castle and Obstacle Adventure, presented by Ridge Meadows College
  • Unveiling of the Rock the Block murals for Maple Ridge 150, created by artist Carly Bouwman

Free Family Entertainment: 12:15–4:30 p.m.

At the Kanaka Kids Stage, presented by Polygon Homes and Morningstar Homes, children and youth will enjoy:

  • 12:15 p.m.: Family folk music by GinaLina, a JUNO and Canadian Folk Music Award nominee
  • 1:20 p.m.: Youth DJ showcase by TableTutors DJ Training Academy
  • 2:30 p.m.: Journey Into Rhythm, an interactive show with world-renowned performer and educator Robin Layne
  • 3:30 p.m.: Another Youth DJ showcase by TableTutors DJ Training Academy

In addition to the entertainment, families can explore over a dozen food trucks, an all-ages beverage garden near the main stage, markets, and other festival adventures.

Our Neck of the Woods Festival Details

Our Neck of the Woods will turn downtown Maple Ridge into a walkable festival zone, packed with fun and excitement for all ages from noon to 10 p.m. Celebrate the city’s 150th anniversary with live music on three stages, including headliners Aaron Pritchett and The Strumbellas, free family activities, vendors, arts and culture, beverage gardens, and the Greater Vancouver Food Truck Festival. Kick off your day at the Haney Farmers Market from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Memorial Peace Park.
