City of Pitt Meadows Named One of B.C.’s Top Employers for 2026

PITT MEADOWS, B.C. – The City of Pitt Meadows has been selected as one of B.C.’s Top Employers for 2026, a prestigious designation announced today by Mediacorp Canada Inc. recognizing organizations across the province that demonstrate excellence in workplace culture, employee engagement and progressive people practices.

The annual competition is administered by Mediacorp Canada Inc., publisher of the national Canada’s Top 100 Employers project. Employers are evaluated against eight core criteria: workplace; work atmosphere and social; health, financial and family benefits; vacation and time off; employee communications; performance management; training and skills development; and community involvement.

“As a small municipality, we take great pride in fostering a workplace that reflects the best of small-town values—connection, community and care,” says Mayor Nicole MacDonald. “This recognition affirms Council’s commitment to corporate pride and to ensuring the City of Pitt Meadows is not only a great place to live, but also a great place to work. When our employees feel supported and valued, our entire community benefits.”

With a close-knit team and a strong culture of collaboration, the City offers a personal and supportive work environment. Pitt Meadows was recognized for its strong employee experience, including competitive compensation and benefits, flexible work arrangements, compressed work week options, collaborative labour relations and a proactive safety culture.

We believe great work happens when people are supported, challenged and given room to grow,” says Chief Administrative Officer Mark Roberts. “We invest in our employees’ development, recognize their contributions, and create an environment where individuals can do meaningful work while building lasting careers.”

Employee engagement and retention are key priorities for the City. The City also invests in individualized training and development plans and provides meaningful career pathways for employees.

With most staff members living locally—and in neighbouring cities—employees share a deep connection to the community they serve. This shared investment strengthens the City’s culture of inclusion, respect and service, and reinforces its commitment to community involvement, accessibility, and Truth and Reconciliation.

The City of Pitt Meadows recognizes and respects that it is located on the traditional territory of q̓ic̓əy̓ (Katzie) First Nation. As part of our commitment to reconciliation and inclusive community engagement, staff actively collaborate with q̓ic̓əy̓ First Nation on cultural events, public art initiatives and special projects that strengthen our shared connection to this land. This approach reflects a broader focus on fostering a workplace culture rooted in respect, inclusion and community partnership.
