City of Maple Ridge Advances Golden Ears Way Expansion Design
The City of Maple Ridge has released exciting news outlining its support for the detailed design work of the Golden Ears Way expansion project. This infrastructure investment has been long identified as a top priority by both the business community and residents.
The expansion will address one of the city’s most significant traffic bottlenecks by expanding Golden Ears Way from two lanes to four lanes between the Highway 7 interchange and 210 Street. The corridor, which is owned and operated by Translink, plays a critical role in moving people and goods through the community.
The project aligns with several major transportation initiatives under the City’s Maple Ridge Moves strategy, including the improvements to Abernathy Way. These projects aim to strengthen regional connectivity, improve traffic flow, and support the city’s rapid growth.
“This is excellent news for the City of Maple Ridge and the broader Ridge Meadows community,” says Kristi Maier, CEO of the Ridge Meadows Chamber of Commerce. “The expansion of Golden Ears Way is a significant infrastructure improvement that will support better traffic flow, improve access for residents and employees, and strengthen connectivity throughout one of the fastest-growing municipalities in the region.”
“We commend the City of Maple Ridge for the advocacy and effort that went into advancing this project. As an advocacy and policy organization, the Chamber understands how challenging it can be to ensure community needs are heard, and it’s encouraging to see those efforts come to fruition.”
Jerry Kok, President of the Ridge Meadows Chamber of Commerce, echoed these sentiments, highlighting the broader economic impact. “The widening of Golden Ears Way represents a major step forward for the economic growth of both Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows. Improved traffic flow means goods move more efficiently, employees and customers spend less time on the road, and local businesses are better equipped to serve our growing communities.”
He added, “The Chamber applauds the City of Maple Ridge for its persistence and leadership in advancing this essential infrastructure investment.”
The Ridge Meadows Chamber remains committed to advocating initiatives that support a healthy, connected, and thriving business environment across the region.
