Maple Ridge, B.C., March 14, 2025 – The City of Maple Ridge reminds residents, businesses, farmers, and charitable organizations impacted by the October 18-20, 2024, atmospheric river event to apply for provincial Disaster Financial Assistance (DFA) before the May 14, 2025, deadline.
The provincial DFA program provides financial relief for qualifying homeowners, tenants, small business owners, farmers, and charitable organizations who experienced uninsurable disaster-related losses. Eligible expenses may include building repairs, replacement of essential personal effects, equipment and inventory, and cleanup and debris removal costs.

Residents and businesses should take proactive steps to prepare for future emergencies. Resources on flood preparedness, emergency planning, and emergency kits are available at MapleRidge.ca/EP or through Prepared BC.

- Contact your insurance provider to confirm whether your current policy covers damage from this event.
- If your insurer does not cover the losses, obtain a letter stating that coverage was unavailable.
- Submit your DFA application online at www.gov.bc.ca/disasterfinancialassistance by May 14, 2025.
