To support small businesses in addressing commercial property crime and vandalism, the Ministry of Jobs, Economic Development, and Innovation has initiated the $10.5 million Securing Small Business Rebate Program.

Administered by the BC Chamber of Commerce, this program aims to reach businesses across all sectors and regions of the province. Leveraging its network of 100 chambers of commerce, boards of trade, and industry partners like Business Improvement Areas, the initiative ensures widespread awareness and accessibility for eligible businesses.

Key Rebate Details: The program offers two types of rebates, effective retroactively from January 1, 2023, until December 31, 2024.

  1. Reparative Rebate: Covers costs not covered by insurance or insurance deductibles, providing a one-time rebate of up to $2,000 for both 2023 and 2024.
  2. Preventative Rebate: Allocated for expenses incurred to prevent damage to commercial property, offering a one-time rebate of up to $1,000 for either 2023 or 2024.

Timeline: The application portal is currently open and will accept submissions until January 31, 2025.
