New Funding for BC Non-Profits!

Non-profit organizations in Maple Ridge/Pitt Meadows now have access to new funding opportunities introduced by the provincial government through the Stronger Community Services Fund. These initiatives aim to empower charities and non-profits to make a significant and lasting impact within their communities.

 
1) Community Prosperity Fund
Valued at $25 million, the Community Prosperity Fund is dedicated to supporting BC community foundations. It will offer multi-year operational grants for charities and non-profits focused on addressing poverty reduction and fostering social inclusion across the province. Further details will be available when applications open this winter.
 
**Eligibility**: Applicant organizations must be registered qualified donees by the Canada Revenue Agency and operate within British Columbia.
 
2) Lighthouse Organizations Fund
Also part of the Stronger Community Services Fund, the Lighthouse Organizations Fund has a budget of $22.9 million. This initiative is tailored to provide multi-year operational grants to individual, larger charities. It aims to support organizations actively working towards poverty reduction and social inclusion across British Columbia.
 
Key Information:
Purpose: This fund is specifically designed to assist large charities in overcoming challenges associated with providing essential services for poverty reduction. It offers operational grants to large, multi-service organizations with a provincial or regional presence.
 
Eligibility: To qualify, applicant organizations must be registered qualified donees by the Canada Revenue Agency and operate within British Columbia. They should also meet specific criteria:
- Have a budget exceeding $15 million.
- Maintain a provincial or regional scope.
- Provide multi-services and operate within communities' frontlines.
- Experience increased demand for services.
- Serve equity-denied communities.
- Align with one or more priority action areas outlined in the Government of BC's Poverty Reduction Strategy, including housing, family, children, youth, education, employment, income supports, and social supports.
- Incorporate one or more principles from the Poverty Reduction Strategy into their programs and services, such as affordability, opportunity, social inclusion, and reconciliation.
 
Application Dates:
- December 1, 2023: Expressions of Interest open for the Lighthouse Organizations Fund.
- January 15, 2024: Application period closes.
- February 15, 2024: Assessments and final decisions will be communicated to all applicants.
