Over the past 2 weeks, we have had warning signs that the government was considering an increase to the minimum wage, an increase that will not only hurt small businesses but impact our community. The increase was announced today at an astronomical amount of 6.9%. This is a $1.10 increase to a minimum wage of $16.75.

 

"The pressures that businesses faced before this increase was dramatic, now this will only add more stress and tension for businesses to survive. I feel for the business owners, this not only affects owners but also affects employees and consumers. Inflation is already so high, this is not what our business community needs: says Executive Director, Kristi Maier.
