Job fair coming to Haney Place Mall in Maple Ridge

The Haney Place Mall will be the host site of the largest job fair of the year in Maple Ridge.

The local WorkBC centre and the Ridge Meadows Chamber of Commerce are partnering to present the Pathways to Success event, coming on Thursday, Oct. 10.

Organizers say the event promises to be Ridge Meadows’ largest hiring, education, and resource fair of the year. There will be more than 40 tables featuring local employers, post-secondary institutions, and community service organizations.

Attendees will have the opportunity to connect with a diverse range of services and resources designed to help them advance their careers and education, say organizers.

“This event is all about bridging the gap between job seekers and employers, as well as community members with services and education,” said Michael Morris, business and community liaison of WorkBC Centre Maple Ridge. “We’re thrilled to provide a free event where individuals can learn about job opportunities, explore educational programs, and access valuable resources – all under one roof.”

Pathways to Success will include a variety of activities such as on-the-spot job interviews, exploration of vocational learning and in-depth discussions around services and resources within the community.

Participants can expect to meet representatives from local businesses eager to hire, and explore educational pathways that can lead to rewarding careers.

“It’s amazing to see the businesses, organizations and community members come together to provide an incredible experience to attendees, including the City of Maple Ridge and City of Pitt Meadows, who will both be present,” said Morris, adding that he reached out to over 250 businesses and organizations.

"We’re very grateful to Haney Place Mall for providing the amazing space that can hold so many tables and people in one space that is accessible to all," he added.

In addition to job opportunities, local colleges and training institutions will showcase their programs, providing attendees with information on courses and certifications that can help them gain a competitive edge in the job market.

“The Ridge Meadows Chamber of Commerce is proud to be involved in Pathways to Success. As the voice of business, we are always looking for ways to support our members in different aspects of their business. This event is a prime example,” said Jerry Kok, chamber president. “This free event offers so much value in one location and we hope to see you there.”

The event is free to attend, and pre-registration is recommended, as registered attendees will have first access to employers. Participants are encouraged to bring copies of their resumes and be prepared to network with potential employers.
