Provincial Investment Supports Major Manufacturing Expansion in Maple Ridge
The Province of British Columbia has announced nearly $2 million in funding to support the expansion of Jewel Welding Fabrication and Coatings Ltd., a long‑standing Maple Ridge manufacturer and valued member of the Ridge Meadows Chamber. The investment, delivered through the BC Manufacturing Jobs Fund, will help the company build a new facility, modernize its equipment, and increase production capacity for large‑diameter industrial pipe used in energy, water, and infrastructure projects across the province.
Jewel Welding has operated in Maple Ridge for more than 20 years, supplying critical components for major projects throughout British Columbia. The company’s expansion will allow it to take on larger contracts, reduce reliance on out‑of‑province suppliers, and strengthen B.C.’s industrial supply chain. The project is expected to create up to 45 new jobs over the next four years, including 12 positions that will be added immediately.
Local leaders have welcomed the announcement, noting the importance of supporting established businesses that continue to invest in the region. For the Ridge Meadows Chamber, the funding represents a meaningful milestone for both the company and the broader business community.
Kristi Maier, CEO of the Ridge Meadows Chamber, shared:
“One of our valued members, Jewel Welding Fabrication and Coatings, will be receiving nearly $2 million from the BC Manufacturing Jobs Fund to support their expansion and increase production of a much-needed product here in our province. Jewel has been an important member of our business community, and I remember speaking with them over a year ago about their expansion plans and the challenges they were facing. The Ridge Meadows Chamber is extremely excited to see not only a Maple Ridge business receiving a significant portion of this funding, but a business like Jewel.”
Jerry Kok, President of the Ridge Meadows Chamber, added:
“We’re pleased to see the Province investing in a local Maple Ridge manufacturer through the BC Manufacturing Jobs Fund. Support for companies like Jewel reinforces confidence in the economic strength of our community. This investment not only enables the company to expand its operations, but it also contributes to the creation of high-quality jobs and economic growth for Maple Ridge.”
The Chamber extends its congratulations to Jewel Welding on this significant achievement. Their continued growth reflects the strength, resilience, and innovation of the Maple Ridge business community, and we look forward to seeing the positive impact this expansion will bring to the region in the years ahead
